The program “The Objectivist Lykeion” (OL) is an educational initiative of Ricardo’s Time for those interested in Objectivism. This is a course in which students can detail and thoroughly study Ayn Rand’s ideas. It is demanding enough to train the Objectivist intellectuals of tomorrow. The course lasts two years and four semesters, with a total of 68 weekly sessions of 90 minutes. The focus of the program is based on Ayn Rand’s main fiction: “The Fountainhead” and “The Atlas Shrugged,” considering that, in these novels, the author exposes, through the different plots and characterization, her entire philosophical system and its implications in different contexts; both at an individual and social level. In parallel to this, non-fiction material will also be studied, referencing “Introduction to Objectivism” and “The Virtues of Selfishness,” based on the work of Dr. Leonard Peikoff. Each session will be taught by German Objectivist scholar Martin Hooss, who holds a Master’s degree in English Literature and Classical Philology from the University of Trier, Germany, and a Master’s degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the CEVRO Institute in Prague. With the assistance of Ricardo Ibáñez, founder and President of Ricardo’s Time, who holds a postgraduate degree in Philosophy, Science, and Religion from the University of Navarra, Spain, and who was a student of Ayn Rand Institute’s intellectual program. OL is a selective and competitive program where 25 students are selected from all over Latin America. The students will obtain the necessary tools to develop the maximum potential of their minds by learning philosophical principles in Ayn Rand’s literature.
In addition to this, they will improve their writing skills and fluency in English, they will have the opportunity to network as well as get educational scholarships. This initiative is in line with the goals and vision of Ricardo’s Time, its ongoing commitment as an organization to the promotion of Ayn Rand’s ideas, which means the promotion of reason and objectivity to live happily and fully.
